Owensboro, Ky. – The University of Findlay women's tennis team, ranked No. 12 in the country, came up just short in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championship match on Saturday, April 26, losing to Tiffin University by a score of 4-2. That defeat gives Findlay a 19-3 record in duals this year and is the first loss to a conference opponent this season.
The Oilers had momentum early, winning the doubles point. UF's first doubles team was defeated 6-1, but
Lidia Laskova and
Charlie Croteau won 6-4 at third doubles to even things up. A minute later,
Anamarija Kovacevic and
Elina Ivanova won 6-4 to put the Oilers on top in the match.
Freshman
Audrey Ouellet won at sixth singles 6-1, 6-4 to put the Oilers in front 2-0, but then the rally began.
Tiffin won at second singles in two sets and shortly after, earned the point at first singles which tied things up at 2-2.
The Dragons then closed things out with a pair of three-set victories at third and fourth singles to earn their third title in four years.
