The Game
The University of Findlay women's volleyball team has advanced to the finals of the 2024 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Women's Volleyball Championship, marking their third appearance in the title game. The fourth-seeded Oilers will now face the seventh-seed, Ohio Dominican University.
The contest, which will take place at 2:00 pm on Saturday, Nov. 23, will take place in Dawn Tibbetts Potter Arena on the campus of Hillsdale College. The final match will mark the second time the two teams have met this season. Since 2010, the teams have met 20 times, with the Oilers leading the all-time series 16-4. However, the last four matchups have been evenly split at two apiece.
Their most recent matchup took place in Findlay on Friday, Oct. 4, where Findlay secured a 3-1 victory. Read more about that match here.

Findlay Oilers (21-8, 11-4 G-MAC) | #4 Seed
2024 Findlay Volleyball Coaching Staff
After stunning the Chargers in the semifinal, Findlay has moved onto the championship game in hopes to earn the first G-MAC Tournament title in program history. UF, who is ranked eighth in the NCAA Midwest Regional Rankings, holds a 21-8 (.724) record while concluding league play with a 11-4 (.733) mark.
The Oilers lead the conference in kills, averaging 14.09 per match, which ranks 13th nationally in Division II. They also hold the top spot in the conference for hitting percentage at .259. This season, Findlay has delivered three matches with a hitting percentage of .400 or higher.
Offensively, UF is led by sophomore Hannah Miller. The six-rotation outside hitter is a versatile force for the Orange and Black. This season, she has tallied 397 kills, averaging 3.78 per set, the third-most in the league. The first team all-conference honoree also contributes 2.27 digs per set and stands out as Findlay's top serve receiver.
The junior duo of Alana Pohlman and
Kenzie Hoelscher, who were both named first team all-conference, continue to dominate at the net. Pohlman averages 2.90 kills per set and leads the team with 0.82 blocks per set. Hoelscher holds the league's second-best hitting percentage at .363, contributing 2.59 kills per set. She's also a serving powerhouse, tallying 52 aces this season at a rate of 0.50 per set.
Junior Emma White, a three-time first team all-conference honoree, remains at the forefront of the Oilers offense. The setter is attaining an average of 11.45 assists per set, the top figure in the conference. She has amassed 1,203 assists this season, the 12th most in Division II.
Under the leadership of head coach Wick Colchagoff, Findlay has yet to secure a conference tournament championship. However, in 2017, the Oilers achieved the status of Co-West Division G-MAC Regular Season Champions. Prior to that, they claimed the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) South regular season title seven times.Â
About the Opponent – Ohio Dominican Panthers (15-15, 8-7 G-MAC) | #7 Seed
2024 Ohio Dominican Volleyball Coaching Staff
The Panthers enter the match with a 15-15 (.500) record after a 3-2 win over Walsh to secure their place in the finals. This is the second consecutive season that Ohio Dominican has played for the tournament title.Â
The Panthers enter the contest averaging a .203 hitting percentage while holding opponents to .180. They average 12.97 kills per set, ranking fifth in the league.
Last year's shock G-MAC Tournament runner-up is back again in 2024, as Ohio Dominican pulled back-to-back upsets over Northwood in a quarterfinal and Walsh in the semifinal.Â
ODU returns essentially every attacking player of note from its 2023 squad, led by senior outside hitter Lauren Lucas, an all-conference player last year who keyed the Panthers' tourney run. A trio of experienced juniors, Jenna Peters, Ashley Aselage and Ashley Chmielewski, all add depth to a balanced ODU attack, while middles Grace Zinchuk and Bailey Christiansen also return and have been key players this season for the Panthers.
Along with their front row, ODU also returns its two setters from 2023 in its 6-2 system, Gabrielle Kirker and Saige Avery, as well as top backup Macie Bowden. A spirited competition for the libero spot to replace multi-year starter Kelsey Shoup has been won by sophomore Lauren Dinunzi over the last six weeks, with freshman Liv Fenstermaker playing an important role as a backrow player as well.
