Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay men's tennis team hosted their home opener on Saturday, Feb. 3 at YMCA East as they took on the Michigan Tech Huskies which compete in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). The Oilers came away with a 5-2 victory to kick off their spring campaign 1-0.
Freshman
Arthur Bord and junior
Dallas Ramsey picked up a 6-1 win at first doubles while junior
Luigi Bove and graduate senior
Andrew Codita teammed up to win at second doubles, also by a score of 6-1.
Bord was a winner at first singles (6-3, 6-3) and Bove, after dropping the first set, won his final two sets 6-2, 6-4 to earn the win at second singles.
Codita won 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 at third singles to give the Oilers a 4-0 lead in the match. Michigan Tech won at fourth singles, but graduate senior
Ethan Shoesmith won 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-3) at sixth singles to seal the victory.
Findlay will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 9 with a match at home against Ferris State.
