Track and Field Participates at Pair of D1 Meets

The University of Findlay men's and women's track & field teams sent athletes to East Lansing, Michigan and Tampa, Florida for competition on Friday, April 5 as the Oilers participated in the Spartan Invitational hosted by Michigan State and the USF Bulls Alumni Invitational hosted by the University of South Florida.

Top Results
  • Men's Pole Vault – Findlay had the top two finishers as Alex Mutchler (Sr.) won with a 5.12m effort and Jacob Michael (Jr.) was second with a 4.97m. Both are good for NCAA Provisionals. Nate Buschur (Fr.) set a personal-best, finishing fifth, also with a provisional height of 4.97m.
  • Women's Pole Vault – Tru Buddenberg (Fr.) was the top finisher with a fifth-place finish and a season-best height of 3.85m. Victoria Harvey (Fr.) was seventh with a 3.85m, as well, both meeting the NCAA Provisional mark.
  • Men's Hammer Throw Invite – Orry Willems (Jr.) was a winner, recording a toss of 62.94m which is good for an NCAA Provisional mark.
  • Women's Hammer Throw Open – Brooke Coulter (Jr.) set a season-best with a throw of 51.57m, winning the event. Kelsey Kennon was eighth with a 45.49.
  • Women's Discus Throw Invite – Trista Fintel (Jr.) was fifth with a 42.68m and Paige Emnett (Sr.) was sixth wit ha 41.73m.
    • Women's Hammer Throw Invite – The same two participated in the hammer throw where Fintel was seventh (51.79m) and Emnett was ninth (51.48m).
    • Fintel also participated in the shot put, recording a mark of 14.40m which was good for second and meets the NCAA provisional standard.
  • Men's Triple Jump – Mondra Curry (So.) was runner-up with a season-best mark of 14.15m.
  • Women's Triple Jump – Katelyn Heath (So.) took third with a 10.95 while Morgan Allman (Jr.) was fourth with a 10.79.
  • Women's Discus Throw Open – Ava Kiefer (So.) won with a personal-best effort of 40.66m while Kelsey Kennon (Jr.) was eighth with a 37.44m throw.
  • Men's Discus Throw Invite – Hunter Tresnan-Rieghard (Jr.) finished with a season-best throw of 49.20m which gave him a fourth-place finish.
    • Tresnan-Rieghard also finished fourth in the shot put with a 15.19m.
  • Men's Javelin Throw – Gabe Clement (Jr.) had a mark of 51.17m which was good for third.
  • Women's Javelin Throw – Kassandra Stine (Jr.) was fourth with a 32.61m.
  • Men's Long Jump – Findlay had two of the top three finishers as Eliot Cummings took second (7.06m) and Chris Campbell (Jr.) was third (7.05m).
  • Men's 800m seeded – Taking third with a time of 1:57.42 was Simon Derstine.
  • Women 100m Hurdles – Amelia Mizelle (So.) took fifth with a 16.61.
  • Women 100m – Hannah Rybicki (Jr.) finished seventh with a time of 13.29.
    • Rybicki also competed in the 200m dash and finished fifth with a 26.18.
  • Men's 200m – Setting a personal-best time in the event with a 23.38 was Nolan Ellis (Fr.)
  • Men' High Jump – Trey Boblitt (So.) finished sixth while Zeke Halker (Jr.) was seventh, both clearing a height of 1.89m.
  • Women's High Jump – Kassandra Stine (Jr.) was sixth with a 1.60m.
  • Women's 400m – Mackenzie Schneider (Jr.) finished in 1:00.10, setting a new personal-best with the sixth-place finish.
  • Men's 400m hurdles – Aaron Keyt (So.) took fifth with a 1:00.48.
  • Women's 400m hurdles – Peyton Heitmeyer (So.) was sixth with a 1:07.45.
  • Men's 4x400m Relay – Simone Derstine, Jordan Foster, Landon Armstrong, and Luke Hootman finished second with a time of 3:38.59
  • Women's 4x400m Relay – Anna Heren, Hailey Wilson, Bailey Chenevey, and Tessa Fine were third with a 4:10.85.

Top Results (Men competed on Friday | Women will compete on Saturday)
  • Men's 4x100m relay – Kemari Robinson (So.), KJ Upshaw (So.), Hassan Sesay (Sr.), and Josh Verhoff (Sr.) teamed up to take fifth in the event with a time of 40.48 which meets the NCAA Provisional mark and is a new season-best. That mark is also tenth-best in Division II this outdoor season.
  • Men's 4x400m relay – Nick Rice (Gr.), Sherron Jones (So.), Sesay, and Xavier Marable (Gr.) finished fourth with a 3:16.52, a new season-best for the Oilers.
  • Men's 200m – Josh Verhoff (Sr.) was a third place finisher in the race, running in the top heat and finishing in a time of 20.62, an NCAA Provisional time and an outdoor personal-best for the Kalida, Ohio native.
