Ray and Smith Headline for Oilers at the Virginia Challenge

Charlottesville, Va.- The University of Findlay track and field team traveled a group of Oilers to compete in day one of the Virginia Challenge hosted by the University of Virginia on Friday, April 18.  

Notable Finishes 
Women
  • Sydney Swan (Jr.) finished fourth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:14.03. 
  • Hailey Wilson (Sr.) took 30th in the 1500m run with a time of 4:40.95. Senior Bailey Chenevey finished 51st with a time of 4:50.69 
  • Zanri Black (Fr.) took ninth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.32. 
  • Kylie Ray (Sr.) won the invite section of the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.10 meeting the NCAA Provisional Standard. With this time Ray sets a new school record beating her previously set record of 58.11. 
  • Leah Smith (So.) finished third in the 100m dash with a time of 11.48. With this time, Smith will break the previous school record of 11.61 set by Jordan Taylor. Jordan Taylor (Sr.) also competed in the finals taking fifth with a time of 11.57. Both Smith and Taylor met the NCAA Provisional Standard. 
  • Brooke Coulter (Sr.) finished 22nd in the hammer throw with a mark of 48.97m. Coulter would also take 17th in the shot put with a mark of 13.57m.
  • Maci Ames (So.) took 12th in pole vault with a mark of 3.60m closely behind Tru Buddenberg (So.) tied for 13th with a mark of 3.60m and Erin Moran (Fr.) finished 15th with a mark of 3.45m. 
  • Kassandra Stine (Sr.) tied for 12th in high hump with a mark of 1.64m.
  • Colleen Steinmetz (Fr.) finished fifth in the invite section of pole vault with a mark of 4.10m meeting the NCAA Provisional Standard. 
Men
  • KJ Upshaw (Jr.) took 44th in the 100m dash with a time of 10.75. Senior Hassan Sesay would finish 48th with a time of 10.78 and senior Stephen Powell claimed 50th with a time of 10.80. 
  • Benjamin Hall (Fr.) claimed 15th in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:19.86. 
  • Jordan Foster (Sr.) finished 15th in the 1500m run with a time of 3:52.18. Jaxen Durfey (So.) took 31st with a time of 3:56.19. 
  • Noah Fisher (Sr.) finished second in the 10k with a time of 30:14.49.
  • Zack Britton (Sr.) finished 34th in the 5k with a time of 14:52.90.
  • Collin Warner (Sr.) took 18th in the hammer throw with a mark of 53.96m.
  • Chris Campbell (Sr.) claimed 21st in long jump with a mark of 6.95m.
  • Eyan Wilson (So.) finished 15th in the shot put with a mark of 16.70m meeting the NCAA Provisional Standard. Hunter Tresnan-Rieghard (Sr.) took 21st with a mark of 16.01m 
The Oilers will be back in action tomorrow April 19 as they wrap up the Virginia Challenge.
