Track & Field Hosts Annual Findlay Alumni Classic

Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams hosted the Findlay Alumni Classic on Friday, January 16, at the Malcolm Athletic Center. The Oilers dominated the limited-field meet, earning numerous first-place finishes and NCAA provisional marks.

Top Performers (Field Events)
  • Women's High Jump: Senior Ashley Sigmon (1.67m) took first place, meeting the NCAA provisional mark with the 19th best height in the country this season.
  • Men's High Jump: Sophomore Owen Ackerman (1.94m) and sophomore Evan Kreais (1.94m) tied for first place.
  • Men's Long Jump: Ackerman's (6.79m) third attempt was his best in the long jump and earned him top spot on the podium.
  • Women's Shot Put: Senior Ava Kiefer (12.02m) won the event with her first toss of the evening.
  • Men's Shot Put: Junior Eyan Wilson (17.02m) was a winner with his fifth throw of the night, meeting the NCAA provisional mark and recording the sixth-best throw in the country this year.
  • Women's Weight Throw: Kiefer (14.12m) also won the weight throw when her second toss of the night sailed 46'4".
  • Men's Weight Throw: Junior Leyton Nossa (20.33m) saved his best throw for last as his sixth try was the only throw of the night to distance more than 20 meters. That toss of 66'8.5" is good for an NCAA provisional and is the fourth-best throw in DII this season.
  • Women's Pole Vault: Sophomore Colleen Steinmetz (3.97m), freshman Brayden Snider (3.87m), junior Victoria Harvey (3.87m), and sophomore Erin Moran (3.72m) took the top four spots and each met the NCAA provisional mark in this event. Steinmetz, Snider, and Harvey all recorded top-ten marks in DII this year, securing spots 6, 7, and 8 on that list, respectively.
  • Men's Pole Vault: Junior Nate Buschur (4.93m) and senior Alex Mutchler (4.93m) each met the NCAA provisional and record the 15th-best marks in DII pole vault this year.
  • Women's Triple Jump: Senior Jessica Hoban's (11.64m) first try of the evening was good enough to earn first place.
Track Top Performers
  • Women's 60m Hurdles: Sophomore Gloria Mengolo (8.96) was the quickest in the field, earning first place with the only sub-nine second time of the night, a feat she achieved in both the prelims and the finals.
  • Men's 60m Hurdles: Senior Julian Griffin (8.27) was a winner by almost a half-second.
  • Men's 60m Dash: Senior KJ Upshaw (6.78) was the lone provisional time of the evening in the fastest event in track, winning the race with the 16th-best time in Division II this season.
  • Women's 60m Dash: Junior Leah Smith (7.59) won the finals with an NCAA provisional time, but was even faster in the prelims with a time of 7.58.
  • Women's 300m Dash: Smith (40.08) also won the 300m dash as the only time under 41 seconds, defeating a host of Wayne State Warriors who claimed spots 2-through-6.
  • Men's 300m Dash: Senior Sherron Jones (35.19) and sophomore Brandon Richardson (35.42) took the top two spots.
  • Men's 3000m Run: Sophomore Elijah Hadler (8:34.33) was a winner while sophomore Luke Ellerbrock (8:53.70) took third.
  • Women's 3000m Run: Senior Sarah Reinhart (10:30.04) clipped sophomore teammate Jenna Ramsey (10:32.16) to take first in the distance run.
  • Women's 1000m Run: Freshman standout Lauren Sattler (3:02.27) was the event winner by almost three seconds.
  • Men's 1000m Run: Sophomore Landon Armstrong (2:32.45) paced the Oilers who finished in each of the top seven spots in this race.
  • Women's 600m Run: Junior Mary Ellis (1:35.60) won ahead of sophomore Zanri Black (1:36.24) and sophomore Emma Hammer (1:38.59).
