Ashland, Ohio- The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams finished runner-up at the 2024 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships. The two-time defending champions fell by narrow margins. The women, who are ranked thirteenth in the nation, scored 140 points, 8.5 points shy of victor Ashland. Meanwhile, the men scored 135 points, 12 points behind champion Tiffin.
Notable Results
Men
- For the second consecutive year, senior Josh Verhoff took the crown in the 200m dash with a provisional time of 21.07. He also took fifth in the 60-meter dash with a NCAA provisional time of 6.81. Verhoff won the same event in 2021.
- Senior Noah Fisher picked up right where he left off yesterday, this time winning the 3,000m run. He clocked in with a time of 8:19.68.
- Now a back-to-back champion in the triple jump is senior Eliot Cummings. He recorded a provisional mark of 14.83m to take the crown.
- Juniors Mondra Curry and Omari Welch-Guytan took third and fourth both with provisional marks. Curry recorded a jump of 14.44m and Welch-Guytan jumped 14.27m.
- Senior Jordan Foster, the program record holder, finished runner-up in the mile with a provisional time of 4:07.13.Â
- Junior Simon Derstine finished fourth with a provisional time of 4:08.99.
- Finishing third in the shot put was senior Hunter Tresnan-Reinghard who recorded a throw of 16.67m, meeting the provisional standard.
- The Oilers teamed up for the 4x400m relay in which they took fourth with a provisional time of 3:15.03. The team consisted of senior Nick Rice, senior Josh Verhoff, senior Hassan Sesay, and sophomore Sherron Jones.
Women
- A repeat champion in the event, junior Trista Fintel takes the crown in the shot put. Her mark of 14.86m is the eleventh best in Division II this season and also meets the provisional standard.
- Finishing fourth in the event last year, sophomore Ashley Sigmon wins the high jump. She recorded a provisional mark of 1.69m.Â
- The team of senior Taylor Ivory, freshman Mary Ellis, senior Jordan Taylor, and senior Kylie Ray won the 4x400 relay. Their time of 3:44.62 establishes a new program record and Great Midwest Indoor record, all while meeting the provisional standard.
- Senior Jordan Taylor finished runner-up in the 200m dash with a provisional time of 24.01, setting a new school record in the process. She also finished second in the 60m dash with a time of 7.47, a provisional time.
- Freshman Leah Smith finished third in the 60m dash with a provisional time of 7.57.
- Senior Hailey Wilson took third in the mile run with a time of 5:01.04.
- Finishing third in the 400m dash was junior Taylor Ivory. She clocked in with a provisional time of 55.64.
- Senior Kylie Ray finished just behind Ivory in the event with a provisional time of 55.98. She also finished with a time of 8.76, a provisional standard.
- In the triple jump, senior Madison Myers finished fourth with a mark of 11.36m.
- Continuing her strong freshman campaign was Victoria Harvey who took third in the pole vault. She recorded a provisional mark of 3.91m.
Following the meet, the Great Midwest awarded senior Noah Fisher with Men's Track Athlete of the Meet. Senior Trista Fintel earned Women's Field Athlete of the Meet.
