Hillsdale, Mich.- The University of Findlay men and women's outdoor track and field teams were both crowned Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) champions on Friday, May 3 after taking first place at the league championship. The women dominated the competition as they racked up 194.50 points, 42 more than second place Ashland University, while the men scored 189 points, 32 points better than Tiffin University who finished as the runner-up. The win today marks the second consecutive outdoor championship on the women's side and their third in four years. Meanwhile, this is the second championship in three years for the men.
Notable Results
Women
- Picking up her second and third consecutive G-MAC titles this week was junior Trista Fintel. The standout defended both her titles in both the discus and shot put. Her best throw in the discus came on her fifth attempt with a mark of 45.39m. Her winning mark of 15.14m in the shot put also came on her fifth attempt. Both her throws in the discus and shot put meet the provisional standards.
- Senior Paige Emnett finished runner-up in the discus with a provisional mark of 45.29m.
- Senior Jordan Taylor took the conference title in both the 100m dash and the 200m dash. She clocked in at 11.77 in the 100m and 24.05 in the 200m. Both of Taylor's times meet the provisional standards.
- Freshman Leah Smith was runner-up in both those events. She recorded a time of 11.84 in the 100m and 24.13 in the 200m. Her time in the 200m meets the provisional mark.
- Senior Kylie Ray won the 400m hurdles with a program record time of 58.11. That time also meets the provisional standard and is the fastest time in Division II this season.
- The team of Leah Smith, senior Taylor Ivory, Kylie Ray, and Jordan Taylor took the title in the 4x100 relay with a program record and provisional standard time of 44.96. That time is the sixth best in Division II this season.
- The 4x400 team of Taylor Ivory, Jordan Taylor, freshman Mary Ellis, and Kylie Ray finished runners-up with a provisional standard time of 3:43.10.
- Sophomore Ashley Sigmon finished third in the high jump, clearing a mark of 1.67m, meeting the provisional standard.
- Taylor Ivory came in third in the 400m dash with a program record time 54.88, also meeting the provisional mark.
Men
- Senior Alex Mutchler took the title in the pole vault with a mark of 5.06m.
- Senior Hunter Tresnan-Reighard won both the shot put and discus. He recorded a mark of 16.57m in the shot put and a throw of 49.07m in the discus.
- Securing 19 points for the Orange and Black was a trio in the triple jump. Senior Eliot Cummings finished runner-up in the event with a mark of 14.55m.
- The 4x100 team of sophomore Kemari Robinson, sophomore Sherron Jones, sophomore KJ Upshaw, and senior Josh Verhoff finished runners-up with a program record time of 39.96. The time also meets the provisional standard.
- Finishing second in both the 100m dash and the 200m dash was Josh Verhoff. The senior clocked in with a time of 10.58 in the 100m and 20.80 in the 200m. He fell in both races by just under 0.30 seconds. His time in the 200m dash meets the provisional standard.
- Senior Nick Rice finished runner-up in the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.22.
- After winning the 10K on Wednesday, senior Noah Fisher finished second in the 5000m with a time of 14:41.33.

The Oilers will now turn their attention to "last chance meets" in order to qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championships. The Championships will take place in Emporia, Kan., May 23-25.
