Ashland, Ohio - The University of Findlay men and women's indoor track and field teams completed day one of the 2026 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championship on Feb. 27 at the Niss Athletic Center at Ashland University. The men are currently in third through one day of competition while the women sit in a tie for fourth.
Men
- Nate Buschur (Jr.) turned in a strong performance in the pole vault by taking second with a NCAA provisional mark of 5.13 meters.
- Evan Combs (Fr.) placed third in the event with a NCAA provisional height of 5.13 meters while Alex Mutchler (Sr.) finished fourth with a NCAA provisional mark of 5.13 meters as well.
- Sherron Jones (Sr.) had great day for Findlay as well and won the preliminary round of the 200-meter dash with a NCAA provisional time of 21.45. He also finished second in the preliminary round of the 400-meter dash with a NCAA qualifying time of 47.80 and will compete in the finals in both events tomorrow.
- Leyton Nossa (Jr.) took third in the weight throw with a NCAA provisional heave of 20.13 meters.
- K.J. Upshaw (Sr.) placed third in the preliminary round of the 60-meter dash with a NCAA provisional time of 6.82 and was fourth in the preliminary round of the 200-meter dash with a NCAA provisional mark of 21.62. He will compete in the finals in both events tomorrow.
- Tyler Thompson (Fr.) advanced to the finals in the 60-meter dash too by taking seventh in the preliminaries at 6.89.
- Benjamin Hall (So.) took sixth in the 5,000-meter with a time of 14:48.24.
- Billy Dennison (Fr.) placed seventh in the 5,000-meter run at 14:52.50 as well.
- Julian Griffin (Sr.) finished fifth in the preliminary round of the 60-meter hurdles with a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 7.96 to qualify for the finals tomorrow.
- Evan Kreais (So.) finished seventh in the long jump at 6.90 meters.
- Joel Stirn (Fr.) finished eighth in the long jump as well at 6.84 meters.
- Rounding out the night was the distance medley relay where Findlay took fourth with a mark of 9:59.90.
Women
- Leah Smith (Jr.) had a great day and took first in the preliminary round of the 60-meter dash with a G-MAC meet and NCAA provisional qualifying time of 7.40. She also finished in the top spot in the preliminary round of the 200-meter dash with a NCAA provisional mark of 23.82. She will compete in the finals in both events tomorrow.
- Helen Unger (So.) finished third in the pentathlon with a NCAA provisional mark of 3,466 points.
- Mary Ellis (Jr.) took third in the preliminary round of the 400-meter dash with a NCAA qualifying time of 55.82 and also qualified for the finals in the 200-meter dash after taking eighth in the prelims at 24.82.
- Zanri Black (So.) finished sixth in the preliminary round of the 400-meter dash as well with a time of 57.29 to qualify for the finals tomorrow.
- Ava Beam (Sr.) placed fourth in the 5,000-meter run at 17:42.51.
- Gloria Mengolo (So.) finished fifth in the preliminary round of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.88 to qualify for the finals tomorrow.
- Amelia Mizelle (Sr.) finished seventh in the preliminary round of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.99 to qualify for the finals tomorrow as well.
