Ashland, Ohio- The University of Findlay track and field teams wrapped up competition at the Great Midwest Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, Feb. 28. Both squads placed third overall, while Ashland University claimed the team titles on both the men's and women's sides. The men totaled 104 points, finishing 29.5 points behind Tiffin and 36 points behind Ashland. On the women's side, Findlay scored 118 points, trailing Hillsdale by 39 points and Ashland by 61.5 points.
Notable Finishes
Men
- Sherron Jones (Sr.) took second in the 400 in 47.26, just 0.15 seconds shy of first, before winning the 200 in 21.40. Both performances met the NCAA provisional standard.
- Julian Griffin (Sr.) earned runner-up honors in the 60 hurdles with an NCAA provisional mark of 7.96.
- KJ Upshaw (Sr.) finished second in the 60 with a time of 6.76, improving from fourth place a year ago, and later placed fifth in the 200 in 21.73. Both marks met the NCAA provisional standard.
- Eyan Wilson (Sr.) took second in the shot put with a throw of 17.55m, improving one spot from last season and meeting the NCAA provisional mark.
- Ty Rosengarten (Fr.) placed fifth in the mile run, clocking 4:12.35.
- The 4x400 relay team of Jack Newlove (Fr.), Charles Ivory (Fr.), Brandon Richardson (Jr.), and Teagan France (Fr.) finished fifth in 3:15.78.
- Nathan Strahm (Fr.) placed sixth in the 800 run, finishing in 1:54.31.
- Jaxen Durfey (Jr.) finished eighth in the mile run with a time of 4:16.37.
- Tyler Thompson (Fr.) came in eighth in the 60 with a time of 6.98.
- Elijah Hadler (Jr.) finished eighth in the 3K with a time of 8:27.67.
Women
- Ashley Sigmon (Sr.) captured the high jump title with a clearance of 1.68m, meeting the NCAA provisional standard and repeating as champion after also winning in 2024.
- Jessica Hoban (Sr.) won the triple jump with a mark of 11.97m, meeting the NCAA provisional standard.
- Leah Smith (Jr.), the defending 60m champion, finished fourth in 7.49 before winning the 200 in 23.71 after placing second last season. Both marks met the NCAA provisional standard.
- Lauren Sattler (So.) placed second in the mile run in 4:57.18 and later took third in the 3K with a time of 9:57.29.
- Taylor Aldredge (Fr.) finished second in the high jump with a mark of 1.65m.
- Katelyn Heath (Sr.) placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 11.59m, moving up three spots from last season.
- Victoria Harvey (Jr.) finished third in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.03m, meeting the NCAA provisional standard.
- Mary Ellis (Jr.) finished third in the 400 in 56.11, improving from fifth place last season and meeting the NCAA provisional standard, and later placed eighth in the 200 in 24.83.
- Colleen Steinmetz (So.) took fourth in the pole vault with a provisional clearance of 3.93m.
- Gloria Mengolo (So.) placed fifth in the 60 hurdles in 8.83.
- Zanri Black (So.) took sixth in the 400 with a time of 56.68.
- Brayden Snider (Fr.) placed sixth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.78m, also meeting the NCAA provisional standard.
- Ava Beam (Sr.) finished seventh in the mile run with a time of 5:05.75.
- Amelia Mizelle (Sr.) came in seventh in the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.96.
- The 4x400 relay team finished seventh with a time of 3:58.88.
- Erin Moran (So.) placed eighth in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.63m.
- Brenna McDonald (Fr.) placed eighth in the shot put with a throw of 11.90m.
Findlay will next compete at the NCAA Division II National Championships, scheduled for Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14. The final list of participants from the 2026 championship field will be released on Tuesday, March 3, with final heats and flight information posted on the NCAA website on Monday, March 9.
