Derek F. Hutchinson, a young brash received from Pennsylvania was catching passes all over the field. Many of his receiving marks still stand in football, while he also achieved greatness on the baseball field at the same time. The 1986 football season was one to remember for Derek Hutchinson. As a wide receiver, Derek set numerous records. He presently holds 4 receiving records at The University of Findlay. He is the record holder for most passes caught in a game, most passes caught in a season, most yards gained in a game, most yards gained in a season. He is currently 2nd all-time in receiving yards in a career and 4th all-time in career receptions. Derek was named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American in 1986. He was also selected to the Hoosier Buckeye Collegiate Conference for 2 years. Football wasn’t the only success Derek has at Findlay College. Baseball was a natural fit for someone who flashed speed and quickness like Derek. Derek is 2nd all-time in stolen bases in a career with 47 and 56 attempts. He is 6th all-time career batting average and 2nd all-time for triples in a career with 6. Derek also used his arm to set a record for The University of Findlay baseball program. He still ranks 3rd all-time in saves for a career with 5. Derek graduated from Findlay College in 1988 with a degree in Health and Physical Education. He is currently an account executive for KForce. He has previously been the Vice President of Vistarms, a professional staffing organization. Derek resides in Paconian Springs, Virginia with his wife Jessica and daughter Elaine.
