Doug Krauss

Doug Krauss graduated from high school in the early 1970’s and came to Findlay College to embark on a great baseball career. As a freshman, Doug excelled on the diamond. He was a four-year letterman and helped lead his team to the NAIA Region VI Playoffs. During the 1975 season, Doug batted .301 and finished second on his team in hits and RBI’s. during his four-year career, the baseball team was 35-9 in the Hoosier Buckeye Conference and won two league titles. He did all his playing with the use of just one eye. Following graduation from Findlay College with his bachelor’s degree in 1976. Krauss would go on to a Hall of Fame coaching career that he is still working on. As the head basketball coach for the last 24 years at Archbold High School, Coach Krauss has accumulated a record of 380 wins and 160 losses. His teams have won 12 NWOAL league titles, six District titles, and four Regional titles. They have been to four OHSAA Final Fours in Columbus. He has been league coach of the year nine times and the OHSAA State Coach of the Year in 1996. In addition, he was the head baseball coach at Archbold H.S. for 14 years accumulating a record of 177-11-1 and garnering three league coach of the year honors in that sports as well. Doug also has his master’s degree from The University of Toledo and resides in Archbold, Ohio with his wife, Sue. The couple has three grown children: Laura, Tim, and Amy. Doug recently retired from teaching, but is still the head boys’ basketball coach at Archbold High School and works as an Ohio sales representative for Daktronics.
