Luis Cortell was a highly decorated men’s soccer player and the Oilers first team sport athlete to achieve National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II All-American accolades. He also led the Oilers to the NCAA Division II Final Four during his senior season and All-American campaign in 2003.

Cortell holds the school record for goals scored in a season as he recorded 16 in 2001 and again in 2003. He earned second team all-Great Lakes Region honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and Daktronics in 2001 and was voted first team all-region in 2003 from both organizations. Cortell also earned first team all-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) accolades in 2001 and 2003, and was voted second team all-conference in 2002.

Cortell ranks second all-time at Findlay with 103 points and scored 44 goals in 64 career games.
