Hall of Fame
Steve Rolston was one fo those students who grew up in a small town and never wanted to live anywhere else. After a great high school career at Upper Scioto Valley High School in the early 1970’s, Steve came to Findlay College. His sparkling baseball career never received the recognition that it probably deserved. The team has undergone several coaching changes, among other things. Regardless, Steve still holds several school records. His .385 career batting average, from 1973-1977, is still the best ever in school history, and his .541 batting average in 1976 is also the best ever in school history and was the second best in the entire NAIA that year. He has the second most triples all-time and his .970 fielding percentage at first base is among the best in school history. Steve’s incredible season in 1976 has gone unnoticed by many people because he was never nominated for All-American honors dur to a paperwork issue. He was named to the First Team All-Hoosier Buckeye Conference and All-District 22. Following his graduation from Findlay College in 1977, Steve returned to his roots in Hardin County. He was an educator and baseball coach for the past 20 years, the first 13 at Hardin Northern and the last seven at Upper Scioto Valley High School. He and his family were very active at the Lima YMCA, and they were named the Family of the Year in 1995. Steve passed away on September 7, 2006. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer and two children, including a daughter, Jessica, who is a currently member of the UF Softball team.
