The University of Findlay women’s basketball program enjoyed tremendous success in the mid 1990’s. While basketball is a great team game, one player would become the heart and soul of those successful teams. Nicole Clever came to The University of Findlay from Marion, Ohio and helped lead her team to a three-year record of 83-12 and three consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearances (All 3 appearances were the first in schools history – 1993, 1994, 1995). The 1994-95 team still holds nine school’s records including 32 wins that season and a Sweet 16 finish. Nicole is certainly one of the more decorated players in Oiler women’s basketball history. She is the fourth all-time leading scorer (1,331 points), and still holds the school record for steals in a game (8). As a junior (1993-94), she was named to the NAIA All-American Second Team and as a senior (1994-95), she became the first women’s basketball player to be named to the NAIA All-American First Team. She was also named to the Kodak All-American as both a junior and senior. Nicole got it done in the classroom as well. She was an NAIA and GTE Academic All-American as both a junior and senior. Nicole graduated from UF in 1995 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. She currently resides in Lewis Center, Ohio with her son, Kaden. She is employed with The Department of Justice as a Deputy United States Marshall and is an active member of several law enforcement associations.
