An outstanding coach who started his career at Lambertville, N.J. and had a 14 win, 2 loss record in baseball and a 7 win, 1 loss, 1 tie record in football for the State Class B Championship. Records at Lockland, Ohio showed a football record of 174 wins, 68 losses, 18 ties, two teams undefeated and eight lost only one game. In basketball 238 wins, 175 losses, was runner-up in State Class B in 1937. Coached Lockland “Legion L Club” football team which were Midwestern champs for four years with 42 wins and 2 losses. As a Findlay undergraduate earned letters in football, basketball, and baseball under Coaches Harry Barnhart, Pearl Rice and Fred Ross. Stadium at Lockland is named for him, “Roettger Field.” Is in Central Ohio and National Football Hall of Fame, was OHSFCA Board Member and President in 1947: coached Southern All Stars in 1952. The father of two children, a leader of young people, recognized for his devotion and service to his community.
