Robert Cook, or Bob as he was known on campus, put together a tennis career that has been unmatched in the 16 years since his collegiate career ended. Bob graduated from Findlay High School and brought his considerable talents to Findlay College in 1986. While at Findlay College and later UF, Bob was named to the All-District 22 team for all four years, while competing at #1 singles each year. He was the conference tournament runner-up and was ranked 25th in the NAIA National Poll in 1988. Bob later gave back to his alma mater by coaching the Oilers tennis teams from 1997-2000. Most college athletes see their career end on graduation day. Bob is one of those exceptions. He continues to gather awards as the continues to compete in tennis tournaments throughout the Midwest. In fact, he is ranked as the #12 player in the Men’s 35 division in the National Poll. He has won many open tournaments and continues to represent the city of Findlay quite well in some of the region’s top adult tournaments. He has been a certified USPIA Level 1 tennis teaching professional since 1991 and has served as a teacher to many of the top players in the region. Bob and his wife, Kate, have one daughter and still reside in Findlay. Bob graduated from UF in 1991 and recently accepted a job at the Findlay YMCA East tennis complex. He previously worked as a tennis professional at various clubs in Toledo and Lima.
